I'm only going for the Disney

In just a few short weeks, I am going on vacation with my son. Our destination is Orlando. And while we will be taking in a little Disney theme park, our main reason for going is this: Celebration V (or 5 in regular numbers). What is this Celebration that I speak of? It is none other than the largest US Convention for all things devoted to Star Wars! Have I told you how much of a Star Wars fan my son is? Let's see if I can elaborate -

Jacob is turning 22 in a couple of weeks. He discovered the Star Wars movies a number of years ago - before "they" ruined the original trilogy by releasing the prequels. He owns almost every Star Wars game ever made. His goal is to eventually own every Star Wars book ever written (it is somewhere over 300 titles, people and he's about 1/2 way there!) He not only collects Star Wars figures, but he also breaks them out once in awhile and recreates battles scenes with them. He knows the name of just about every actor in all six movies as well as voices of animated characters, the names of producers and who trains the actors in the art of lightsaber skills. He likes the Star Wars Christmas Special. That, in itself, designates him as a true and loyal fan.

Yes, we even dressed up our dog one year as Princess Leia and her name is Princess Leia.

So when he found out that George (Star Wars) Lucas himself would be at this Convention, he offered to pay for this trip and so, we are going. I feel like the Galaxy Far, Far Away is a second home for us as I know almost as much about SW as he does. It's like osmosis. It seeps into your blood. It oozes into your veins. It is also the topic of many, many conversations at our dinner table, and 1st thing in the morning, and last thing at night and when we're in the bathroom....well, you get the picture.

I know about Darth Bane and Mara Jade and The Old Republic and on and on..... But I am not a diehard fan. I am just the mother of one. And as we will be in Orlando, I wasn't going to pass up a chance to visit the Disney theme parks, at least as much as I can squeeze in to the alloted time. Because I love me some Mickey Mouse, even when he is dressed up like Darth Vader.
